Weed Action Fund

Island Regen was awarded two projects through the Tasmanian Weed Action Fund, Project 3 – Invasive Perennial Grasses: Northern and Western Tasmania and Project 4 – Invasive Perennial Grasses: Southern and Eastern Tasmania. These projects will be rolled out over the next 2 financial years, 2025-2027.

These projects have a large emphasis on educational material, Island Regen will be hosting a range of workshops and field days on invasive perennial grasses across the state. There will also be six educational brochures and posters produced on the identification and management of invasive perennial grasses.

Island Regen will be surveying for invasive perennial grasses across the state with an emphasis on outlier populations that have the potential to be eradicated. Landowners may also be eligible for a weed management plan to be produced to assist in their management. Some funding for control is also available however the funding is limited and will be strictly for outlier populations were eradication is feasible.
